A little talk with Melody Alcaniz, head of design at AIRLLO, the Taiwan based family run company with whom we have partnered to create que most sustainable, breathable and cool masks in the market!
So first things first, how did you end up creating Airllo?
Airllo was founded by my brother Stanley, a Robotics and Material engineer. When he first returned to Taiwan from Sydney in 2016, he started coughing for almost the entire year.
He started using masks and air purifiers to alleviate his cough, but he noticed that the entire clean air market seemed to revolve around disposable filters, which are not only wasteful, terrible for the environment, but also costly to maintain. Determined to make sure access to clean, healthy air will not come at the cost to our environment, he decided to create Airllo and brought myself and our other sister together with him to reimagine a new clean air ecosystem centered around reusability and sustainability.
I handle everything to do with design. Stan handles the science and the engineering and our sister Cynthia oversees the production.
And now, we cant help but ask you to share with us some of your favourite spots in Taipei :)
Where to stay:
A chic urban hotel tucked away from the Main Street. It also has a great rooftop restaurant that offers a great lunch set menu.

Where to eat:
You can’t leave Taipei without trying at least one beef noodle soup. You just can’t.
Local favorite - Lin Dong Fang Beef Noodle
My personal favourite is from the Regent Hotel, in the hotel cafe downstairs. A little more pricey but I think it’s heavenly.
And there is plenty of street food just everywhere. The best place to try Taiwanese Street food is at the night markets.
Nearest Metro Station: Xinyi Anh

Where to do some fresh shopping in Taipei :
For something a little different and for first time visitors to Taipei, I would recommend going to Ximending. Streets are filled with funky shops for clothes and accessories.
Not to miss if you visit Taiwan:
Should I say Stinky Tofu? If you can get past the smell, it's actually a very satisfying dish.

Thank you Melody and get that stinky tofu ready!
